It does take time. I have been learning since January and I am still a beginner. The banjo really does take years but it is fun.

Like Pete says...Keep goin! There will come a moment when your pickin will fall into place and you will be on cloud 9 goin...I can't believe this sounds so good! Then it will be onto practicing the next roll or fill...the more of them you get good at the more you can string them together and have fun making up your own little songs or versions of standard songs. Enjoy your journey.

i've been pickin banjo since 1974 and am still learnin' .just hang in there, keep on pickin and surpprise yourself at what you can do.

In about 5 years you will know if the Banjo is for you and that is with daily practice. If you get discourged now you are in for a ride.
