This fall has caused some intense itchy and runny eyes for some reason. I always have some allergy issues in the fall with nasal stuff, but the eye thing is uncommon.
Do you have a recommendation for eye drops or anything else to relieve this bother some eye itch?

I get itchy eyes if I’m somewhat de-hydrated and don’t realize it. I just drink more water ,,,,, or kefir

"Blink" drops work well for me.
"Systane Ultra" also work well for me and are, in fact, my preferred drops.
Both were recommended by my Optholmolgist after my Cataract surgeries.
I've had allergies all my life, Hay Fever, mainly, and have always fought itchy eyes.

If one of the many OTC antihistamine drops doesn’t work, see if you can get a script for olopatadine. Strong stuff—dose is one drop per eye every 24 hrs. It works.

For about the last decade or so I've had on-again-off-again spells of a burning sensation in my eyes. My eyes are always moist, but the optometrist told me that we produce two types of tears... only one of which provides lubrication [... and guess which type I'm short on]. I get some relief from hot moist compresses and/or a bag of wheat heated in the microwave. "Watery" or liquid types of eye drops did diddly-squat for me, but I've found Tear-Gel and GenTeal work [and there are several other gels I haven't tried], although it sometimes takes several minutes to take effect.
A year and a half ago when "keep your hands away from your eyes" gained publicity, I said [to myself], "In a pig's arse!"
.... Good luck, and on the off-chance you think I'm a doc...... I'm NOT; ^^ is just my experience, not a recommendation!!
Edit: Bill, this site says there are prescription and nonprescription formulations. medlineplus.gov/druginfo/meds/a602025.html Dunno whether either is available in Canada, but I think I'll check into it further. thanks.

Recommend after lasik 20+ yrs ago. Been using it ever since. Carry a few vials in the car, & various jacket pockets. Available OTC everywhere.

My ophthalmologist also recommended Refresh (available at Costco), one drop in each eye three times daily or when needed. They really help.

This fall has been bad. As soon as I wake up and get to the kitchen I'm reaching for the Kleenex. My chronic itching has been all over the top half of my back. If it gets really bad I find that the typical antihistamines help.

I use generic Zertec, cetrizine hcl pill for my allergies. Does an okay job with itchy eyes. Nothing works 100% when I'm in the midst of my worst season (usually mid-March into April). Also use a generic nose spray, budesonide) for stuffy nose from dust mites. Don't like the flowery smell of Flonase 
but it works just as well.

Go to your eye doctor place and get a squeeze bottle of optical isotonic saline.
Sort of tears in a bottle.
Over the sink, flood your eyes. Messy, but you will learn if it's grit in the air.
Our air here is always dirty with mountain rock dust. Always. Some days are bad.

Artificial tears are great: I use them regularly. But…if you have a true allergy attack, you need an antihistamine.

I went walgreen and they had Systane itchy eye solution. It seems to be providing good relief.
Now if I can keep from rubbing!

Why not go for an eye exam if what you’re experiencing is unusual? Then you can SAFELY go with the simple eye drop solution if you find it's simply a symptom of dry eyes?
