I just fell in love with Reno's Fastest Five String Alive album. I love every song and I'd like to devote some time to learning some of these breaks. I found Jack Baker's version of Choking the strings which is great, and I'd like to have tabs for some of the other tunes, especially Remington Ride & When you and I where young little Maggie, but every other would be greatly appreciated, too.
The other musicians on the album are amazing, too. Anyway, I hope I can learn some of the breaks too add to my banjo vocabulary and tabs would be of great help.

When you and I were young maggie was in Banjo newsletter years ago...a great place to start would be Jason Skinner on the BHO here. He has out some DVDs that teach these tunes and he plays banjo as Close to Don as anyone.

Hello
I thought about learning every song on this excellent album rather like people learn every song from Foggy Mountain Banjo. I still may. Lots of the tabs were written out by Ed Chernesky in the Banjo Newsletter
Remington Ride (RB) IX-6, p5-7, Apr 1982 BNL Tab
When You and I Were Young, Maggie (RB) VIII-8, p22-23, Jun 1981 BNL Tab

Fastest Five Strings Alive was a great album, came out in 1969, near the end of his partnership with Red Smiley. This is available on CD from Amazon.com. This is the ori
ginal Starday-King album cover:

Another great album was Banjo Special, also on King, which was released in 1962. There was some overlap.

I'd love to get a vinyl copy of it once. Drool. I'll look out for Banjo Special, too. Thanks Don.
Btw, I found Jack Baker's transcription of Remington Ride somewhere on my hard drive and I'm starting to learn it. Great pickin by Don Reno.
