<title>April, 2009 Issue</title>

<description>Holy mackerel, Dan, what a great Old Time Way section!

My favorite is Jim Whitesell's piece on the Arthritis Brothers Jam. Too bad the photo is from the one session I missed! And a great article on jamming, with lots of references to the BHO. several tabs, two CD reviews (one by Dan, one by Bob Carlin), and even a banjo review.

<title>Open Back Buyer's Guide</title>
<author>eric@banjohangout.org</author>
<link>http://www.banjohangout.org/pages/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=135669</link>
<description>I really enjoyed Bob Carlin's 'Open Back Buyer's Guide' in the January, 2009 issue. He listed several makers that I hadn't even heard of. Nice to know that there are so many people making open back banjos.

One thing that struck me as odd is the fact that Chuck Lee wasn't even mentioned in the article, or even in the 'Update to the 2005 Buyer's Guide' sidebar. I see his 1/2 page add smack dab in the middle of the article, but not a mention of Lee Banjos.

Oversight? Or did he not qualify for some reason?

<title>CH BNL Tab Reprint</title>
<author>eric@banjohangout.org</author>
<link>http://www.banjohangout.org/pages/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=126408</link>
<description>Do you think BNL will ever collect all their past CH tabs and make a book out of them? Kinda of similar what Ken Perlman did with his BNL articles? TC

<title>So, what do you want to see in Old Time Way?</title>
<author>eric@banjohangout.org</author>
<link>http://www.banjohangout.org/pages/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=125411</link>
<description>Okay, there has been a BNL subscription thread going on in other ch topics, and I am just finishing up October's Old Time Way this week so as we go into next year, what WOULD you like to see written about, what would YOU like to write about and what would create or keep you as a subscriber or hey, advertiser - in The Old Time Way? Great way to reach other likeminded banjo folks. (Woodchuck, MC? An adv in OTW reaches a LOT of folks.)

October 08 will include that long awaited how to take a workshop/camps piece I have been working on for a while (with your help, I might add) and a review of the new 5/6 string 14&quot; pot Gold Tone banjo with tab from Jimmy McCown. [:p]

We do have an update on open back banjo builders planned for January 09 with emphasis on the smaller &quot;cafe'&quot; builders and even Miss Jennifer is getting a piece ready on playing in key &quot;out of key&quot; as so many of you ask about (you know, how do I play a D tune in D when I'm tuned to G). [8)]

SO, the ball's partly in your court. And remember we can talk about those articles here long after the paper has been used for other purposes. As always...

<description>Hey R.D.,

Great interview with Bill Whelan in the October 2007 Banjo Newsletter Old-Time Way section. I really enjoyed it. Thanks! I'm going to have to track down some of those Rough Deal Stringband recordings.
