- I've been playing banjo for more than 25 years, spent thousands of hours painstakingly learning by slowing down (and ruining !) records. Here in England it's almost impossible to find a teacher, and in those early days instruction books and quality instruments were very hard to find. Imagine my amazement when I came across your site!

- Thanks for your enthusiasm and effort in the development of the "Hangout." Purchased a five string back in "85" only to find out that it could be more difficult finding the proper resources to learn to play than play itself. Few years back inadvertantely came across a teacher who finally got me going. Agreed, it's up to me as to how far to take it; yet, thanks to you and others, the resources are now much more accessable.

- This is an excellent Web Site! I'm very appreciative. I just recently decided to go back and pick up where I left off at in about 1979 or 1980 with learning the 5-String Banjo. Can only say that I wish I would've kept up over the years, I was doin purty good for having no instruction. Somehow life got in the way. Did manage to become a very accomplished Wildlife Artist, but that's another story. I want to reach a decent level of proficiency with the 5-String Banjo. Your site is a Goldmine of information. - I bought a Banjo back in 1974 when stationed in Ft. Leonard Wood Missouri. I learned some by trial and error. Let that Banjo slip away. Decided to buy a new one recently (December 2001). So I started doing my research in an attempt to see what was out there. I came across your website. Absolutely perfect!
I visit it everyday to see what is going on. Initially I was impressed by the fact that there were free lessons on here. But was equally excited that I could read reviews about the different makes and models of Banjos out there. As well as read the reviews from people all over who had purchased them.
