It does look like a well made instument,I'm doubtful that it's actually a Gibson,however. Electric guitar banjo,or banjitar as Todd says. Or how about a GuitJo.

I can't read the logo on the neck...it kinda looks like Gibson but I'm not sure. The zero fret is definitely not a Gibson feature, though. I can't recall ever seeing a Gibson with a zero fret.....

Looks to be a product of Teisco or Kawai. Late 60's early 70's Japanese manufacture.
I'd call it a banjo shaped electric guitar.
